The Cause image

For two consecutive years, thanks to generous donations, we have been able to provide school supplies, stationery, books, uniform, and shoes to all of the children attending our kindergarten, along with those entering grades 1 and 2 at the village preparatory school.

By providing these children with the tools that they need, we have been able to ease the financial burden on their parents and thereby encourage attendance, giving these children the opportunity to gain a proper start to their early years education. In 2020 alone, the number of children enrolling in kindergarten and grades 1 and 2 in the local school doubled after we announced that their school supplies would be provided. Since then, the numbers have continued to rise and the attendance now stands at the highest it has ever been.

We hope to be able to do the same this year but on an even larger scale. By providing school supplies for as many children as we can in Akurala and its surrounding villages, we hope to roll out the program and further increase the accessibility to education in the area.

This fundraiser has the potential to make a huge difference, so a big thank you is in order to Francis Flynn (friend of KFA) and the bands, Vinyl and Novacaine, for making this all possible!

Vinyl:
Based in Winchester, Vinyl are a four piece indie/rock band from Peter Symonds college. The band was originally formed by Jake Jones (guitar/ vocals) and George Henderson (bass) when they were 11 however it wasn’t until early 2023 that they solidified their line up with Iris Roffey (vocals/ piano) and Stanley Halliday (drums).
Having signed with LMSUK they are as committed as ever to making a career out of their music. Having spent time gigging around southern England they recently went into the studio with producer Barnaby Thwaites to record a few original songs. They released their debut single, ‘The Ones I Choose’ in June of 2023, and it has already amassed over 2000 streams. Now back from their tour of the Scilly Isles they look towards releasing their next song 'Blame'.
